Our story
Our story
is human.
is human.
It begins in a family. It leads with a passion for design, innovation, and education—and, finally, it welcomes big dreams, paired with practical results.
Gianfranco Zaccai became a part of the neurodivergent community through the raising of two neurodiverse children. Over time, he experienced the systemic gaps that exist between resources, needs, and aspirations. He sought to use his incredible career in Architecture and Design—a career that entailed inventing products like the P&G Swiffer, the Omnipod Insulin Delivery System, and the Reebok Pump shoe—to implement concrete change. We ground our work in the tried-and-true. Here’s how.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
Psychologist Abraham Maslow viewed human needs as consecutive: physical, safety, psychological, and social. Ultimately, the meeting of each need can allow an individual to achieve self-actualization, where human beings reach their ultimate sense of self.Intelligence⁺⁺ promotes the discovery and development of targeted innovations that augment individual capabilities and talents.

Theory of Multiple Intelligences
Intelligence⁺⁺’s mission is grounded in Psychologist Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, which theorizes that there are eight forms of intelligence; we call these forms of intelligence “talents” and believe that identifying, enhancing, and leveraging one’s talents is essential to achieving self-actualization.
We believe that various forms of intelligence, or “talents,” are present in each person. We also believe that uncovering, enhancing, and celebrating them is essential to maximizing the quality of life of all.

Gianfranco Zaccai
Founder
Gianfranco Zaccai has spent the past four decades immersed in the world of Architecture and Design. He founded and led Continuum Innovation—a pioneering design firm of its time. Gianfranco’s experience raising neurodiverse children led him to question the role neurodiversity could play in the design world. Intelligence⁺⁺ came to life from this curiosity.

Annabel Smith
Executive Assistant
Annabel Smith is a writer and a storyteller. She believes in the power of words—how we order them, weave stories from them, and use them to touch the heart of the human experience. Her passion for design began during a college course, where she applied human-centered innovation towards “wicked” problems. She believes that neurodiversity is an asset—and that, when harnessed, higher peaks can be reached.
